We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring teacher who is passionate about learning and teaching in Mathematics. This post will be suitable for newly qualified teachers or those with experience.

The Mathematics department is very successful and takes a leading role in developing change across the school, given the faculty’s outstanding track record. We are looking for someone to contribute to this success; someone who will actively participate within the department and further enrich our pupils’ experiences within mathematics.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Has a passion for mathematics

  • Has a track record of raising achievement in mathematics
  • Has a commitment to inclusive education
  • Will build positive relationships with all learners

Mathematics is a leading department within the school and members of the team work closely to support a number of schools, both at the primary and secondary education level. With a robust pupil premium intervention team, slightly smaller class sizes and our links with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), pupil performance has been consistently excellent at both key stages for a number of years. In 2018, 72% attained at least a grade 4 at GCSE level, with 30% attaining at least a grade 7.

The school has recently become a PFEG Centre of Excellence in Financial Education due to the collaborative work between all of the faculties within the school, led by the maths department.

Department staff play a wider role in the school and community and have been instrumental with STEM visits and visitors, the School Fair, Ski Trip, Romsey Show, Challenge Day, Enterprise Project, Duke of Edinburgh Award and our Romsey2Kenya project.

The Romsey School is a high attaining and oversubscribed school, committed to high quality inclusive education.

About The Romsey School

The Romsey School is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive academy, situated in Romsey in Hampshire. The school, which converted to an academy in 2011 has approximately 1,200 students on the school roll.

The school has a distinctive ethos that successfully combines success and achievement within a happy, supportive and caring environment. It is very important to us that every child should have an opportunity to thrive within a highly personalised curriculum that recognises the diversity of talent within our pupils. The last Ofsted report commented that this is a school where teachers give pupils demanding work to do and ask probing questions which require pupils to work hard and think deeply.  In many ways we are a traditional school in terms of uniform and a belief in firm but fair discipline. But we are also a school that recognises that we have a responsibility to prepare pupils for this fast changing world we live in.
