Are you a Maths Teacher committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for an experienced Maths Teacher to join our fantastic team at Westbourne School, Sutton-in-Ashfield. As a Maths Teacher, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop.

This is a great opportunity for a Maths Teacher who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

When it comes to looking after our children, we never settle for second best. We are looking for a Maths Teacher, who shares our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

Educated to degree level and/or of Qualified Teacher Status, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.

Classes are located in the original school building, with classrooms brought right up to date with top class learning and vocational facilities. There are also a number of residential Children’s homes aligned to Westbourne School.

We are opening a new School site later this year to add to the capacity of Children we look after, which will sit in the Westbourne cluster. This will be an exciting opportunity to drive the expansion of the site.

The aim of the school is to provide specialist individual support to each child, enabling them to reach their potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide the young people with as much freedom as possible while offering a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable and understanding including dedicated education, care and clinical teams.

Welcome to Westbourne School

Westbourne School is a truly unique provision which blends academic and vocational learning to provide the best possible outcomes for all children, regardless of ability or start point. The school is proud to offer first class vocational facilities which include mechanic and construction workshops, a hair and beauty salon, ICT suite and fully kitted catering provision. This is supported by high quality teaching rooms which provide access to fantastic ICT provision for all pupils. Our goal is to create bespoke curriculums that support the needs of each individual child, allowing them to flourish and succeed giving them the best possible opportunities in life.

As a school we understand that some of our students’ views of education may be negative and that the transition back into school life can create feelings of anxiety, uncertainty and fear. Through a holistic approach of high quality education, pastoral and therapeutic staff, we aim to remove these barriers and support each child back into school where they can be happy, safe and eager learners once again. This can only be achieved by the forging of strong working relationships between staff and students. By really getting to know each individual child, we can target our support and ensure progress both academically and socially.
