A Matron’s position is one of importance and responsibility. The Matron deals with the health and welfare of the pupils, and they have a special role in assisting the Housemaster / Housemistress to create a happy and well- disciplined atmosphere throughout the Boarding House.
The main function of this post is to be an adult present in the House and be responsible for the welfare of the students by assisting the Housemaster / mistress in the supervision of the pupils.
The position requires someone who likes and understands young people and is able to demonstrate good sense. They should have good personal inter-active skills with young people and their parents and guardians by being a good listener, flexible in outlook, reliable, warm and friendly in disposition, with sufficient sensitivity to show tact and diplomacy.
The role is permanent, term time only plus some additional days to assist with preparation at the start of each term. Single occupancy accommodation will be provided and ideally the successful candidate will be resident, however, applications will be considered for non-resident matrons who are willing to live-in on duty nights.
