Job overview

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed person, with current industry experience in Mechanical Engineering to support curriculum staff and Engineering students in a practical setting, to industry standards at our Medway Campus.  The role involves technician duties that will consist of assisting tutors and students, preparing resources, supervising and working with individual students when required. You will need good communication skills, knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, the ability to work as part of a team and a desire to pass on knowledge to young people

The resources that are available

The modern Learning Resource Centre contains all the library and study facilities you will need to make the best of your course - including text books, newspapers, magazines and a growing number of online resources all readily available and free for you acsess. There’s ample space for individual or group study, and you can get online using the IT terminals or your own laptop via WiFi. Students are more than welcome to borrow items and our friendly LRC team is always on hand to help you access the resources you need.

The Medway Campus is home to two buzzing Social Zones. Open all day, these chilled-out areas provide students with a spacious and sociable environment. Here they can listen to music, play video game and watch TV. Our Social Zone coordinators run a full programme of enrichment activities throughout the year to make your time with us as enjoyable as possible.

Our main refectory area offers a wide range of food and drink and the staff work hard to ensure they meet any specific dietry requirements upon request. We offer good-quality food from full meals to salads and snacks, so there is something for everyone!

The Hair Academy Salons at our Medway Campus offer reasonably priced hairdressing services – such as cutting, colouring, perming and styling – for both men and women.

Our Holistic Therapy salons offer a full range of body therapies and facial treatments.

Midkent college is home to a state-of-the-art performance theatre which is located between our central block and West-wing. This top-quality performance space plays host to a number of different student activities throughout the academic year. With top-of-the-range sound and lighting equipment, we expect all students to benefit from this fantastic space.
