Job overview

Horizon International School is a supportive, student focused, international community school. We strive to challenge and inspire all learners to develop their skills and nurture values through a love of learning so that they can responsibly embrace the diverse challenges of tomorrow.

Horizon International School, Dubai is an established, thriving community that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the National Curriculum of England in Primary and Secondary. Students take a combination of IGCSE and GCSE at the end of Key Stage 4 leading into ‘A’ levels thereafter. The school community has rapidly grown, and we now have approximately 1000 students with ages ranging from 3 to 18 from over 74 different countries.

September 2019 saw further expansion in our growing Secondary phase. As a result, we require an innovative and passionate teacher to join our community. Given the size of the Secondary dept, colleagues with previous pastoral experience, or wider school responsibilities, would be very welcome.

We welcome applications from teachers who have a creative approach to curriculum delivery and who put the children first. High standards, flexibility and a commitment to developing the whole child are essential. You will need to be self-motivated, have a growth mindset and be able to work well as part of a growing team.

The Post

We seek a professional who will be able to continue to inspire a love of learning in Media Studies  (KS4-5). An ability to teach another subject at KS3 would be an advantage.

It is expected that applicants will be able to relate to and align with our motto of ‘Everyone counts, everyone contributes, everyone succeeds.’ The secondary department is on a significant journey to excellence. Applicants must have the enthusiasm, commitment and energy needed to work in a rapidly growing and improving school.

We offer a spacious, well-resourced learning environment, with enthusiastic, motivated children and supportive families.

We require teachers who are:

• Dedicated practitioners who strive to provide the very best learning opportunities they can for their students

• Professional both in their conduct and appearance and fully committed to the life of the school

• Open minded and flexible, willing to contribute ideas and fully support the strategic vision of the school

• Hardworking, with the desire to make a difference and go the extra mile

A B.A degree or other relevant degree coupled with PGCE or QTS is essential. Police clearance certificates are also not negotiable.

Relevant UK experience is essential and recent international experience is desirable.

The successful candidate will benefit from furnished accommodation, private medical cover, flight allowances, end of service gratuity and an attractive tax-free salary. In addition, there will be a significant commitment to supporting the development and career goals of  successful candidates.

Deadline for applications: 12 January 2020. Please ensure you type the post for which you are applying,  in the subject of the email and or make it clear in your application.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact Mrs Picasso on +97143483314 or via email at: hr@horizonintlschool.com to arrange a time.
