Harris Academy Morden is currently looking to appoint an outstanding Midday Meals Supervisor to join its team of support staff.

Your opportunity

The purpose of this role is to secure the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the morning and lunchtime break periods. Your duties will be:

  • To undertake direct supervision of pupils in designated areas, ensuring safe and orderly conduct
  • To undertake direct supervision of pupils at toilets ensuring safe and orderly conduct
  • To assist with daily decisions on areas for pupil use e.g. wet lunchtimes
  • To promote games and activities, motivating pupils during the morning and lunchtime breaks, ensuring school rules regarding games allowed are met and that health and safety procedures are maintained
  • To support and supervise pupils in the dining area as appropriate e.g. encouragement to eat, return of trays, cutlery etc.
  • To support pupils in the play/other areas who may require assistance.
  • To deal with minor incidents and first aid where appropriate, referring serious incidents 
  • To clean up spillages or debris around the dining/play areas to ensure the maintenance of good order, discipline and safety.

  • Understand the educational, social and welfare needs of pupils in the midday break
  • Understand the importance of the meal and break as a social and educational occasion
  • Have good spoken and written English
  • Be able to encourage and inspire young people
  • Have good organisational skills
  • Be able to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities
  • Be able to judge when advice/assistance is needed to meet pupil’s needs
  • Be able to liaise with parents/carers in a professional manner observing the boundaries of the role and respecting confidential information
  • Ideally, hold a current First Aid qualification and have experience of administering First Aid
