McAuley College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle Leader – Curriculum (Mathematics and Numeracy). This is a Tier 2 position, and a full-time continuing teaching appointment with an initial two-year appointment as Middle Leader. Two subsequent three-year appointments as Middle Leader will be offered following a successful performance review and based on the role being ongoing in any restructure of the Middle Leadership positions and allocation in the next triennium. The position is released 4 hours per week.

As Middle Leader (Mathematics and Numeracy), you will be responsible for:
-Leading the teaching of Mathematics across the school, with a focus on Years 7 to 10
-Working alongside the Mathematics teachers to embed a consistent and effective pedagogy at McAuley College that has a direct impact on student learning outcomes.
-Exploring effective ways to integrate digital applications to enhance the student’s growth and understanding in Mathematics.
-Preparing a scope and sequence which allows out students to be assessment capable learners, well prepared for their chosen pathway into Senior School, and enjoying Mathematics.
-Assist all staff to deliver numeracy across all areas of the curriculum using a consistent and effective approach.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:
-Hold appropriate qualifications and experience across all areas of Mathematics,
-Effective communication and interpersonal skills,
-Proven organisational skills,
-A clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum,
-An ability to work in partnership with colleagues, students and parents/carers,
-Attend in detail to innovative and creative practices, and
-Lead the development and delivery of a vision for the Mathematics department.

The successful candidate will be required to attend a one-day formation at the College on Friday 12 November. Prior to commencing, there will a be number of mandatory online courses that must be completed.


To be successful in this role you will: 

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
