The Middle Years Program (MYP) Curriculum Coordinator will assist in preparation and implementation of the MYP into the college. The role holder will assist in preparing and training staff in collaboration with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organisation. The MYP Curriculum Coordinator will have a teaching role.

St Joseph's College is a co-educational, non-selective, independent secondary school, serving students aged 12-18. Located in Toowoomba, Queensland the Catholic school has approximately 810 students and 80 teaching staff. Founded in 1956, the school has a strong pastoral care program which facilitates important teacher-student relationships.

Facilities

The school has well-equipped classrooms with interactive whiteboards and computers. The school has modern facilities for Music, Drama, Computing, Sport, Manual Arts and Food Technology. A new Learning Resource Centre was recently completed. Other facilities include an oval, a new library, and vegetable patch. The school has a great sporting reputation in the area, with resources devoted to help students reach their potential. 

Curriculum 

The senior school curriculum offers an Authority Subjects for an Overall Position (OP) pathway, a Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathway, or a combination of the two. Subjects taught include Modern and Ancient History, Recreation Studies, Industrial Skills, French and Japanese. The junior school offers subjects from Australian Curriculum, Queensland Studies Authority’s Syllabii and the Religious Education Syllabus. The school also teaches preparatory “Head Start” subjects, in conjunction with the University of Southern Queensland. 

School ethos

The school’s philosophy is rooted in the teachings of Jesus and faith is treated as importantly as academic education. Children are taught with respect for their own individual development, with the school acknowledging that not all students learn at the same speed or in the same way.
