CHS has joined a roster of leading schools to become a regional teacher training hub for Modern Languages and is looking for new recruits to join its thriving Modern Languages department.

CHS is a member of the NML SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) and is one of several hubs that work with partner schools in their area to deliver high quality classroom-based modern languages teacher training. Trainees will join the NML SCITT and commence the training programme from September 2023.

SCITT programmes are aimed at both new graduates and career changers and enable a new generation of teachers to benefit from highly practical, school-based training.

Trainees will spend most of their time on a main school placement from September 1st, building their confidence and experience, with weekly academic theory sessions to support their development. They will also work for six weeks in a contrasting second school to broaden their experience and active links with these schools’ departments can now grow and flourish on many levels in Modern Languages.

At the end of the one-year SCITT programme, trainees will receive Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE, provided by Sheffield Hallam University), including credits towards a Masters qualification.
