We are seeking a well-qualified and inspirational Music teacher to work within our supportive and innovative department.  Music is a popular subject, with a good uptake at GCSE and a sustainable uptake to A Level along with a thriving programme of extracurricular activities.  The creative arts are highly valued in the school and the provision has developed extensively over recent years, leading to our application for the Artsmark Award at Platinum level. 

The successful applicant will be expected to teach Music across the age range from Year 7 -11 and potentially A Level. The post would suit an excellent classroom practitioner at any stage of their career; and applications from newly-qualified teachers are welcome.  The ability to teach a second subject in any discipline would be an advantage. The role is advertised as part-time for 2 or 3 days a week but we will consider applicants seeking a more flexible working pattern. 

Langley Grammar School is a co-educational 11-18 selective school with academy status, located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4.  We have approximately 1180 students, 320 of whom are in the Sixth Form.  The school is heavily over-subscribed and draws students from a wide geographical area and range of backgrounds.  Alongside promoting excellent academic outcomes, our school ethos supports students to become confident and well rounded, independent and creative, responsible and caring. Our students are capable, hardworking and a delight to teach. We are a National Teaching School with a record of nationally recognised innovative practice, and an Apple Distinguished School in recognition of our leading-edge use of technology for learning. In recent years major building programmes have included the construction of excellent sports facilities, a distinctive Sixth Form Centre and new classrooms and laboratories.  The school was last inspected in 2007, and was graded outstanding in all categories.

Applications should be returned by midday on Monday 6 July marked for the attention of Mrs Jane Milward, Headteacher’s PA.   Interviews will take place as soon as possible after the closing date although we reserve the right to interview promising candidates prior to this date if applications are received early. Please note that due to the restrictions imposed on schools due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is unlikely that candidates will be able to visit the school or teach a lesson as part of the interview process. Instead, candidates’ teaching ability will be assessed through other activities and online interviews.
