Job overview

Institut Le Rosey is a dual-language (English and French) co-educational IB World School for 430 pupils with a unique two-campus system. For September 2019, we have a full-time post available for a specialist Music Teacher (in English) also able to teach instrumental classes.

Le Rosey has exceptional music facilities, with a remarkable concert hall and programme (see: http://www.roseyconcerthall.ch) and its own “resident orchestra” in the shape of the International Menuhin Music Academy (IMMA), a group of young string virtuosi with Maxim Vengerov as its Artistic Director.

We are seeking a qualified music teacher who:

  • is able to teach the equivalent of pre-GCSE and GCSE classes and music technology
  • can offer instrumental lessons on one or more instruments, ideally saxophone
  • is a confident leader of different musical ensembles – classical and/or jazz/rock
  • enjoys working with all age groups and abilities in a multicultural environment
  • Part of the successful candidate’s timetable will depend on his/her skills, qualifications, experience and interest. This could take the form of classes and/or activities either within or outside the normal academic schedule.
Candidates should note that the post is residential and will involve some boarding-house duties. On campus accommodation is provided and conditions of work are attractive. Further details at http://www.rosey.ch/information/employment/
Applications, which should be addressed to the Headmaster at job@rosey.ch, must be by email and will comprise: a letter of application, a CV, (including personal details such as age and family circumstances which may be important for residential considerations), the names of three referees, and a recent photo.

Closing date for receipt of applications: 15 February 2019.

Further details will be sent to all suitable candidates and interviews will take place in Switzerland in late February, March and (if necessary) April.

About Institut Le Rosey

Founded in 1880, Institut Le Rosey (www.rosey.ch) offers a rounded bilingual education in English and/or French for 440 students aged 8-18, leading to the IB Diploma and French baccalauréat.  It also offers a unique two-campus system through its move from a 75-acre château setting by Lake Geneva to the school’s alpine campus every winter term. An IB World School, Le Rosey is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and MSA.

An International Mission

Le Rosey is a highly international community, with well over 60 nationalities in its student body, and over 20 on the teaching staff.  The cultural and linguistic diversity of its 440 students is guaranteed by selective admissions with no more than 10% of students from any country. This multinational mix creates a special and very friendly campus atmosphere, as well as enhancing global awareness and international understanding.

Academics

In addition to promoting bilingualism and biculturalism, Le Rosey offers a broad academic programme and range of IB and “Pre-Bac” subjects, with an exceptionally strong tradition in foreign languages.  Class sizes are small and the main campus in Rolle is particularly well equipped.  All students without exception sit the full diploma of the IB or the French “bac”; results are excellent (IB/French bac average of 36+ points), and all students go on to universities in the USA, UK and across the world, with well over 30% to the Ivy League, Ivy league Plus, Oxbridge, and top-ranked universities across the world.

Sports, Arts and Expeditions

Le Rosey is committed to holistic educational principles.  An exceptionally varied, sports, expedition, arts and cultural programme takes full advantage of facilities which include riding stables, a sailing centre, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a fitness and “wellness” centre.  There is also a strong winter sports tradition. The school boasts an exceptional state-of-the-art Arts and Learning Centre and 900-seat concert hall (www.roseyconcerthall.ch) on its Rolle campus.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing Statement

Institut Le Rosey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff to share this commitment. All new employees are required to undertake a security clearance, which includes providing criminal records reports as well as a special excerpt from the Swiss criminal records for people working with children.

Diversity Statement

Le Rosey is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through valuing diversity. Staff, students, and teachers work toward the furthering of an inclusive and supportive environment. As such, we encourage and welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
