Job overview

We are seeking an experienced Netball coach to support the excellent netball programme already in place here at Strathallan School.

The successful candidate will work with the Head of Netball and members of the Sports Department in the delivery of the school’s Netball programme in the Senior School. They will support the Netball programmes, ensuring appropriate levels of participation and enabling talented athletes to achieve success. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to coach netball sessions and umpire fixtures in the senior school.

The post-holder is expected to uphold the values and ethos of Strathallan School and act as an ambassador for the school.


Duties & responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Netball to plan and deliver coaching sessions and activities for pupils in the senior school in both games’ lessons, activities, and fixtures.
  • Manage school netball teams where required to include team selection and administration, match day management and umpiring.
  • Work alongside the Head of Netball in mentoring and coaching our elite netball players/scholars and support a programme in which they can continue to excel both in school and for their external representative teams.
  • Provide feedback and give advice on players' performance, physical and technical skills.
  • Develop and discuss tactics and strategies for both individual and team play.
  • Research good practice of innovative and successful coaching.
  • Advise players on how to keep up a positive mental attitude and discipline, inspiring confidence, and self-belief.
  • Work with students to use netball as a means of personal and social development.
  • Act as a role model, gaining the trust and respect of the people you work with.
  • Always ensure students train to a high level of health and safety.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures in relation to safeguarding and health and safety requirements.


Hours of Work:

  • Spring Term during term time only (10 January 2023 - 29 March 2023)
  • This role will involve regular games time commitments, which will include fixtures after school and during weekends when there are scheduled netball fixtures/tournaments with working pattern/hours to be agreed with the Director of Sport/Head of Netball.
  • 8-12 hours per week in the Spring term.
  • There may be occasions when work will have to be undertaken outside of normal hours.
