Job overview
We are looking for an exceptional individual to help drive forward the engagement of teachers, support staff, schools and colleges with STEM-specific professional development, resources and careers support across the Network.
You will build the capability and capacity of our Science Learning Partnerships (SLPs), STEM Ambassador Hubs (SAHs) and other regional partners to impact positively on young people's engagement and enthusiasm for STEM subjects. You will be contributing to raising aspirations and educational standards and ultimately enabling more young people to pursue STEM-related education and careers.
You will work with the Senior Educational Network Lead to ensure consistency of delivery across the Network, leading the standardisation and exemplification of good practice and impact. An important aspect of the role is to continue to develop and extend the reach of support to areas which have low network engagement, in particular, Opportunity Areas and identified areas of under-achievement.
You will have experience of the planning, development and implementation of effective cutting-edge CPD which has high impact on subject knowledge and pedagogy of teachers / support staff with measurable impact on student outcomes.
With excellent communication, planning, IT and organisational skills, candidates must have a proven track record in working across a range of schools/colleges to improve student attainment. Candidates will have proven experience of engaging with school and college leaders, governors, trustees, government officials, subject and professional bodies, employers and other influencers.
You will have a robust understanding of STEM education and the skills agenda including regional and national issues, challenges and opportunities. The ability to think analytically and strategically will enable you to respond creatively to challenges, whilst your highly developed communication skills will enable you to work remotely and effectively with colleagues and a wide range of external stakeholders.
Regular UK travel will be required to fulfil the role. There may be occasional opportunities for international travel.

The National STEM Learning Centre and Network is the UK's Number One resource for supporting STEM teaching and learning through the provision of CPD, resources, online communities in partnership with a wide range of organisations and individuals. This includes driving forward ongoing development of the STEM Ambassadors and STEM Clubs programmes alongside subject-specific support for all involved in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to young people.
Remuneration and benefits
Salary £45k - £55k dependent on experience. Appointment to this role enables access to the USS pension scheme, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays and a wide range of staff benefits. This role could be based in our York or London offices or may be home based.
