Dar Al Marefa is an IB World School offering a bilingual education in English and Arabic. In 2019, we will move to a new state of the art campus we have developed alongside Pritzker Price award winning architects RCR Arquitectes of Spain, with the aim of creating a healthy and enjoyable learning environment for our students, teachers and wider community. The new campus will cater to 2000 students across the 3 programs of PYP, MYP and DP.

The role:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the school Principal serves as the Educational Leader responsible for the overall Management of the School from within the spirit of the school’s Vision and Mission, responsible and accountable for the performance and standards found in learning and teaching and the curriculum, ensuring high quality education for all its students and good standards of learning and achievement.

The successful applicant will advise the Board on educational development matters concerning the school's needs, future planning, the appraisal of the day-to-day running of the school which will include personnel matters, curriculum and students concerns. He/she should make submissions to the Board on such matters including Policies and Procedures and Budgetary Planning each year.

You are responsible for the successful implementation and development of the curriculum, with particular emphasis on the school's working relationship with the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates, KHDA, and the International Baccalaureate Office to ensure continuous improvement.

As Leader of this school, you are required to act with exemplary management skills ensuring you consult with your team on matters of curriculum design, the development of school policy manuals, the timetables, examinations, staff evaluation, the development of teaching resources and the physical development of the campus.

The Principal serve as a role model for students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession, encourage all teachers to do the same.

You should communicate regularly with parents using effective communication and presentation skills when addressing students, staff, parents, and the community.

Requirements:

  • Minimum BA and Master’s Degree is essential
  • Recent experience as a Principal or Head of Secondary leading a large and high performing team required ideally within IB DP or GCSE, A Level curriculum environment, with a proven track record in improving a school’s rating;
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, organization and management;
  • Professional commitment to the successful implementation of an enriched curriculum;
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to the general welfare of the School and its stakeholders;
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal & written; highly organised; refined interpersonal skills;
  • High level of interpersonal empathy and a willingness to engage at every level within the school community;
  • A high degree of initiative and creative thinking;
  • Inclusive and balanced management style;
  • Fluency in Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
