Two NQTs required for September 2019

Passion – Urgency – Positivity – Aspiration – Commitment

Gonville Academy is looking for two talented, energetic NQTs to join our dynamic, highly aspirational team. One post will be based in Reception or KS1, the other in KS2. Our vision is to develop a learning community, which aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and mindset they need to become leaders in their chosen fields. We had a successful Ofsted inspection in March 2017, and are looking for ambitious candidates who are committed to helping students to achieve their full potential. We encourage candidates to look at our Academy website to learn more about our curriculum, and learning and teaching approaches.

You will be:

• passionate about teaching and learning, with the ability to inspire and motivate;

• an innovative and reflective practitioner who is keen to learn;

• committed to a research based approach to teaching and learning;

• positive, with a ‘can do’ attitude;

• a champion for our students, and a role model for a growth mindset.

We can offer you:

• an excellent NQT programme, led by highly skilled staff;

• opportunities for career development, including fully funded MA and leadership courses;

• enthusiastic, well behaved students, who are keen to learn;

• a competitive salary and benefits scheme;

• an innovative curriculum which staff shape for our students;

• a school that genuinely invests in people, and holds the Investors in People Award.

Visits to Gonville Academy are actively encouraged. To arrange a visit, or for more information about the role, please contact Karen Todorov in the main office, via phone: 020 8684 4006 or email:  recruitment@gonvilleacademy.croydon.sch.uk.

CVs are not accepted; a STEP Academy Trust Application Form must be completed for all applications.

Closing date: Thursday 21st March 2019, but applications will be reviewed when received.

Interviews: Ongoing as applications are received.

Our multicultural school is in the heart of Croydon, south London. We are a larger than average primary with a nursery and are very much mission and values led.  Our values - Passion, Urgency, Positivity, Aspiration and Commitment – are at the heart of everything we do.

Our culture

We have extremely high expectations for learning and behaviour, hence our Ofsted rating of ‘outstanding’ for behaviour.  Pupils feel safe, valuable and respected with us, and as a Rights Respecting School, we create many opportunities for them to take leading roles throughout the school. This means our pupils become very confident and self-assured individuals.

Why work with us?

We are committed to high quality staff development. Currently we are engaged in research projects and development work with partners including Future Leaders, Teaching Leaders, Teach First, NCETM and Roehampton University.

As part of STEP Academy trust, we also provide regular opportunities for staff to share good practice with other teachers within the Trust. We are committed to developing national and international partner schools, and teachers have had the opportunity to work with schools in Cornwall, Devon, Nigeria, Norway and France.

Location

Gonville Academy has excellent transport links, being close to Thornton Heath bus garage and train station. There is easy access to central Croydon, Streatham and Brixton as well as being a short train journey away from central London.
