Nursery Worker required for  26.25 hours per week, thus apprenticeship programme would be 59.5 weeks duration. 

Terms: Apprenticeship opportunity initially as a Fixed Term Contract (59.5 weeks duration) with potential to lead to further opportunities. 

SALARY: During apprenticeship the post holder will be remunerated at NJC Devon Grade B, SCP2-3 (pro rata per annum) this equates to a starting point of £9.43 per hour (pay is calculated per annum with holiday pay for term time only working).

Upon successful completion of apprenticeship the full post will be NJC Plymouth Grade C, SCP 5-7 (Pro Rata Per Annum).

Sherford Vale School currently has a vacancy for an apprentice Nursery Worker which will be supported by a recognised qualification through The Learning Institute. The role is working on the front line to work with children on their education and social development and provide a high quality of care.

We are looking for a developing practitioner who will be supported by an experienced professional team to develop practice where learning is at the heart, supported by a hunger to improve, and a strong teamwork ethic. This opportunity would be suitable for someone looking to develop a career with nursery practice and grow their skills. 

The successful candidate would be required to start as soon as possible and will be supported with release time to access training. The ability to work flexibility to adapt to priority needs of the service is essential. The ability to build good relationships with children, the Nursery and EYFS team, staff and parents is vital. 

Major responsibilities will include working under direct supervision/instruction to support access to learning by:

 Attending to the welfare and personal care of pupils including those with special educational needs

 Delivering pre-determined learning/care/support programmes

 Implementing phonics/maths and English programmes

 Assisting with the planning cycle

 Undertaking general clerical/administrative support for the teacher/department
