Nurture Teacher to teach English and Maths to Yr7&8 Nurture Groups

Portslade Aldridge Community AcademyBrighton and Hove

As our roll increases, we are seeking new staff to join our team.  We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic teacher to join our teaching staff to take responsibility for a nurture group in year 7 and one in year 8. These groups will be made up of students who are not yet at age expectation in literacy and/or numeracy.  The role of the nurture teacher will be to teach this group of students both English and Maths.

The post is a new role at PACA.  Our aim is to see these groups make progress to catch up their literacy and numeracy skills, as well as work on socialization skills where necessary in order that they can successfully access the mainstream curriculum in Year 9.  The role would suit someone with a passion for making a difference for some of our most disadvantaged students, with an interest in SEN and someone seeking to take on more responsibility for a key element of our school.

Portslade Aldridge Community Academy is an 11-16 state funded Academy.  PACA is part of the Aldridge Multi-Academy Trust. As a group of schools, we are collectively committed to developing all members of staff through our school coaching programme.  We operate whole school training and development in curriculum design, school culture as well as subject specific training in pedagogy.

The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner with real enthusiasm for working with children, they will share a fascination in learning and they will be committed to ever improving their teaching. We welcome applications from teachers with experience of teaching at either KS2 or KS3.  While experience of teaching both maths and English would be an advantage, it is not essential.  What is essential is an interest to seek ways to boost the achievement of these two groups, drawing on the support and skills of our SEN team, English and maths teams.

Portslade Aldridge Community Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Please complete an application form, which you can download from our website, and send with a supporting letter outlining how your previous experience would enable you to fulfil this role to Sheila Cahill, Executive Assistant at
