22.5 hours per week - January 2020 start

Possibility of increased hours as caseload develops

Term time only plus five Inset days

Shapwick School in Somerset specialises in educating students aged 8–19 years by breaking down barriers to learning associated with dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. Our existing Therapy Team consists of 4 SaLTs and 2 OTs who work closely with teaching staff to integrate therapy and learning objectives within the school.

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Therapy Team.  The successful candidate must be a member of the RCOT and have HCPC registration.  Postgraduate experience in sensory integration would be an advantage.

Shapwick School is situated on the delightful Somerset levels, near to the coast, the Mendips, Quantocks and Exmoor.  As a CReSTeD category ‘SP’ School, Shapwick specialises in supporting boys and girls aged 8 to 18 years whose education has been adversely affected by dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia.  We employ a team of specialist teachers, speech & language therapists and occupational therapists who deliver to small classes (average size is 8) and individuals.

As one of the first specialist schools for children with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia the school is very proud of its staffs’ experience at understanding each child’s individual needs and helping them to grow into confident, skilled and happy adults ready to take the next stage in their life.
