Job overview

The position

We are looking to appoint an Office Manager who will manage the day to day operation of the school office, ensuring an effective and efficient administrative support service is provided to staff, parents, prospective parents and children and to provide appropriate secretarial support to the senior management team.  This is a very busy school office so needs to be someone who is excellent at multi-tasking and used to working in a fast paced environment.

Duties to include

Handling incoming and outgoing communications as required.

Providing word processing to the Headmaster and Senior Management Team as required.

Diary management – arranging and monitoring the daily appointments of the Headmaster and Head of Junior School ensuring all necessary arrangements are completed and information provided. Assist with visitor hospitality where required.

Assist in the organisation of Open Day and other events within school.

The School

Hill House is the leading co-educational independent school in South Yorkshire. It is an exciting and expanding school of some 700 children from age 3 to 18, where teachers can teach and children can learn. The school was founded in 1912 and occupies a splendid site outside the South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.

In an £8 million move, the school relocated from an urban site in September 2008, and now occupies stunning facilities, harmonising the history of an outstanding campus with new, purposely designed 21st century facilities. Since then, a multi-million pound development project has seen the building of a new Sixth Form Centre, Music School, Sports Grounds and Dining Hall.

Academic results are the best in the area, with 37% of GCSEs being awarded 8/9 grades this year with 58% grade 9-7, and 48% of A levels being graded at A/A*. They are improving every year, and compete very favourably with other independent schools; expectations are rightly high, and we are ambitious for our children.

Doncaster is a thriving and historic town with excellent communication links, little more than 90 minutes by train from Kings Cross. The culture, facilities and shops of York, Leeds, Harrogate, Nottingham and Sheffield are all within easy reach. Doncaster is surrounded by many beautiful villages in the countryside of South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire, and property prices are very reasonable indeed.
