Salary: Grade 5 SP 16-20 (FTE £29,394 - £31,423 / Actual £26,871 - £28,726 per annum)

Contract Term: Permanent

Contract Hours: 37 hours per week / 42 weeks per year (term time working plus an additional 15 days during school holidays). If you are seeking more weeks per year, please state this on your application.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new special school, part of the Unity Schools Partnership multi-academy trust, which opens in September 2023. You will have the chance to join the founding team of the school, contributing to shaping provision to transform the lives of generations of children: you will make the difference and be the difference.

Romford Special School is being set up to educate young people between the ages of 7-16 who have a wide range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of the pupils may also be on the Autistic Spectrum. The school serves a catchment area that covers Havering and surrounding areas of East London.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious team-player to manage the school’s front office function and to work in collaboration with staff colleagues to provide a comprehensive administrative service to ensure the school operates efficiently and smoothly. You will work closely with the Headteacher as an important member of the founding team of the school.

You will provide a PA service to the Headteacher, including diary management, supporting SLT, managing HR administration and dealing with enquiries from a range of individuals and agencies.

Further duties will include: line management of the Front Office Administrative Team; providing administrative support to teaching staff; maintaining and creating up to date files for the pupils in school; providing administrative support for school trips, clubs and other activities; maintaining staff attendance and HR records; assisting in preparation, editing and distribution of school newsletters and brochures,; finance administration; support with setting up and administration of on-line school systems, including Arbor; Reception cover as required.

The school is part of a collaborative, forward thinking Academy Trust of 32 schools. The school will also be adding to our network of special schools, alongside Sir Bobby Robson School, Ipswich, The Bridge School, Ipswich and Churchill Special School, Haverhill and Sir Peter Hall School, Bury St Edmunds.

You will be supported in your role by experienced special education leaders who will be available to offer and advice and guidance as the school moves forward and will be part of a network of experienced Office Managers with support from our Central Team Finance and HR officers.

Significant training and development are available through opportunities for professional development, research, teacher training and collaboration between schools and across phases.
