We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to play a key role in carrying out a range of duties relating to the management of the running, upkeep and security of our Academy based in Epsom, Surrey. Supported by the Estates Team, the Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the team work together in providing a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school community.
You will be responsible for overseeing several areas and maintaining relationships with your teams and external contractors and customers. You will have several direct reports who will look to you for operational guidance and support, you will also need to be able to demonstrate strong financial awareness, and practice good Health and Safety controls. Success in a similar role and understanding of the operational requirements of a large school is essential as is willingness to roll your sleeves up if the need arises! The role is full time and permanent, 40 hours per week over 7 days and covering 52 weeks per year.
Ideally we are seeking an individual who would be comfortable with weekends being a regular part of the normal week in order to manage our school lettings and maintenance programmes. The key duties will include;
•Overseeing the day to day operation of the Estates Team.
•Ensuring works are completed within the agreed timescales.
•Works are carried out as per the contract specification and consistently delivered to a high standard. Quality after checks are carried out and reported within the agreed timescales. •Site, Equipment and Health & Safety Audits are completed.
•To provide an excellent standard of customer service and build good relationships with staff and clients, you will be the main point of contact for any queries and requests.
•To provide assistance, on a hands-on basis, to the working teams if necessary to ensure we meet our requirements.
•People and Performance management.
In addition the ideal person will possess;
•A genuine commitment to working in an educational environment
•Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, parents/carers, drivers/escorts, contractors, delivery drivers and members of the public
•A range of skills in general maintenance and repair work to carry out various site maintenance duties for both the buildings and grounds.
•A full, clean driving license
•The ability to work with minimum supervision and also work under pressure
•Previous experience of health and safety, security and managing projects
•Previous experience of managing and motivating a small team
