We are looking to recruit an organist in residence to join our busy Music Department.

Pangbourne College is home to the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel, where we hold regular Chapel services, assemblies and the Annual Falkland Islands Memorial Service. The Organist in Residence will lead the organ playing on these occasions.

You will be responsible for providing musical accompaniment and support for individual or small group lessons, along with preparing pupils for performances and examinations. You will provide musical accompaniment to concerts, choirs and examinations. Other responsibilities will include supervision for practice sessions two evenings per week, teaching music theory and taking aural classes. The post holder may upon occasion have the opportunity to earn an additional fee through accompanying or directing rehearsals for the Pangbourne Choral Society.

You will be passionate about your instrument and be able to bring your skills and enthusiasm to inspire our pupils. There will be a requirement to work evenings and weekends and support tours and visits during College holidays.

We have outstanding facilities for our musicians within our awarding winning, custom built department. Single accommodation can be provided for this role.

We are also on the mainline rail network between Oxford (30 minutes) and London Paddington (45 minutes). Daily school transport services are available from Ascot, Basingstoke, Henley/Wargrave, Maidenhead, Newbury and Wantage.

In November 2019, the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) rated the college as ‘Excellent’ for both the academic and personal development of its pupils. It said: ‘Pupils demonstrate exemplary attitudes to learning: they respond to academic challenge with energy and purpose.’
