We are now looking for an outstanding French coordinator to join us for the start of the 2023 academic year.

If you are a UK-qualified teacher with experience of delivering the national curriculum of England – and you have a creative, positive, and professional attitude – we would love to hear from you.

About us

QIS is one of the best international schools both in the nation of Qatar and in the wider Middle East region – we are one of only three schools in the world to hold BSO’s ‘Gold Standard’.

Our 2020 BSO report wrote:

‘The school is highly effective in enabling all students to develop their personal skills and qualities. Students are thoughtful, well behaved, treat others with respect and have well developed social skills.’

‘The school is held in high regard by the wider community and parents. Students are proud to be members of the school and value the opportunities it provides.’

‘Positive relationships between staff and students create a learning environment where students feel safe and valued. Students are engaged and interested in their learning.’

We follow the latest National Curriculum for England, and all our non-Arabic teachers have either taught or been trained under the UK system. We have about 2,000 students ranging from 3 to 18 years of age.

We provide an outstanding education to all our students, who regularly achieve some of the best results in the world.

Application and interview

We do not believe in long, pointless application forms! Please apply by emailing us your CV and a brief covering letter to Recruitment@qis.org explaining why you will be a great fit for QIS.

Initial interviews may be conducted online or face-to-face if the candidate is in Qatar. Successful candidates will be fully supported all the way through to their joining day – and beyond.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of excellent applications we receive, we are unable to notify those who have not been shortlisted.

About Qatar International School

Qatar International School is a British International private school located in Doha, the capital city of the State of Qatar. The school follows the latest National Curriculum of England and Wales for students ranging between 3 and 18 years of age.

The school is led and managed by British professionals and it strives to maintain the highest standards of the current British education system, whilst also supporting its Arabic culture and international context.

Our long and illustrious history traces its roots back over 40 years to 1977, making us the oldest British International School in Qatar. Under the leadership of our Executive Principal, Deane Baker (who joined us in September 2013), we have achieved various national and international accreditations at the highest levels. We hold numerous high achievement awards for our international examination success.

Education is highly valued in Qatar. This means our school enjoys working with extremely supportive parents and wonderfully enthusiastic, highly motivated students.

Children are taught in Key Stages from KS1 through to KS5 and examinations are taken in GCSE, IGCSE and A Levels using UK examination boards. The vast majority of students leaving QIS move onto higher education in leading universities all over the world but most especially the UK, USA, Canada, UAE, and Qatar itself. The vast majority of teaching staff are UK-trained, and the school prides itself on ensuring it keeps up to date with the best international practice in education and learning.

In 2001 the school moved to its current, purpose-built campus in the Diplomatic Quarter of Dafna, close to the skyscrapers and business centre of West Bay. Here, under the ownership of the founder’s son, Sheikh Khalid bin Ali bin Ahmad Al Thani, the school continues to thrive – expanding and developing its excellent specialist facilities. These include science laboratories, ICT suites, a swimming pool, playing fields, and a large sports hall.

Our student body is truly international, with over 60 different nationalities represented within the current cohort. While the teaching staff are predominantly from the UK and the curriculum is taught in English, the school is adept at integrating students from a wide variety of cultural and academic backgrounds.

We hope you will enjoy browsing our website and we look forward to welcoming you to the school in future.
