Sirius Academy North is a mixed secondary school for children aged 11-16, situated in Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The school, which has a pupil roll of around 1100, was established in 2012 as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. It became part of the Sirius Academy Multi Academy Trust in September 2015.

The academy’s curriculum aims to combine a rigorous core curriculum with a wide range of additional subjects and varied enrichment opportunities.

Values and vision

Sirius Academy North’s goal is for all its students to feel that they can “believe, achieve and succeed”. To support this vision, the school aims to be an inclusive, purposeful and high achieving educational community, delivering an outstanding learning experience.

A high standard of behaviour is an expectation within the academy. Its “Discipline for Learning” programme is designed to encourage students to take responsibility for their own actions, following the Sirius Academy North Academy Pledge, which details nine key expectations around behaviour.

The ability to communicate is considered the most important area of learning. Students are given the chance to communicate formally through “Student Voice”.  By demonstrating that each voice is valued, by listening and responding, the school believes it shows its commitment to democracy and liberty.

Ofsted

“The focus of all staff and governors is entirely on improving the education provided for the pupils in their care, increasing their life chances and allowing them to follow their dreams.”
