PART TIME SCHOOL CLEANING STAFF
Churcher’s College is an independent, co-educational, HMC day school, which offers a distinctive education to pupils from the age of 2 to 18. Currently there are over 850 pupils in the Senior School (11-18) in Petersfield, and on another site in Liphook, over 240 pupils in the Junior School and Nursery (2-11). Our aim is to educate and prepare young people in order that they may participate successfully and responsibly in society. We aim to provide a high standard of education for all pupils based upon traditional values and academic standards, personal discipline, and the development of self confidence. This is accomplished within a caring environment on an open site with the beautiful South Downs as a backdrop. Both sites feature a range of buildings including very recent new and exciting developments at both sites.
Enthusiastic individuals are required to join the cleaning staff team from September 2018 with the following shift:
Junior School in Liphook
- From 4pm – 8pm [1 post]
The role is term time only with a limited number of hours in the school holidays to be scheduled over the year on a flexible basis.
The main duties of these posts will be:
· Cleaning of the school buildings including classrooms, corridors, toilets and circulation spaces.
· Spring cleaning during the school holiday periods with hours scheduled on a flexible basis.
· Assistance with cleaning and preparation for whole school events, e.g. Parents Evenings, Plays and Musical events, and Speech Day/Open Day.
· Support/cover for other members of the cleaning staff as may be reasonably required from time to time.
Holidays: A paid holiday entitlement of 5 weeks (including bank holidays) is included in the salary calculation, to be taken during the school holiday periods.
Pay: The rate of pay is £8.99 per hour giving rise to a salary calculation as follows:
£8.99 x No of Hours Worked/Wk x 40 Weeks ( inc paid holiday )
As an example using the 4pm– 8pm shift hours
= £8.99 x 20 x 40 = £ 7192 pa + paid holiday working hours to be agreed
Start date: September 2018 – date to be agreed.
Trial period: Three months
Notice Period: A written notice period of 6 weeks is required for either the Employer or Employee to reasonably terminate the employment contract.
Uniform: Items to be provided by school, including safety shoes, to be worn at all times.
Pension: Entitlement to join the HCC (LGPS) Pension Scheme for non- teaching staff.

In order to comply with the Children’s Act, all staff appointed to positions at Churcher’s College must undergo an enhanced DBS criminal records check. A copy of the school policy on DBS is available on request. Two written references will be required and any gaps in employment records will be investigated. It is also necessary for all staff to notify the Headmaster before the appointment of any convictions or other factors which may be relevant to their employment in a school environment.
