About us:

Tower House is a single form entry boys’ preparatory school for 190 boys covering Reception to Year 8, we prepare pupils for the top senior schools in the UK.

We pride ourselves on providing a rich learning environment in which the boys are given time to learn about themselves as learners: – to practise the skills of thinking, debate and inquiry, to modify their views because of another’s reasoning and – not least – to listen, understand and empathise with the experiences of others.

We also place a great deal of emphasis on the development of each boy’s character and confidence – encouraging responsibility, compassion for others and a sense of humour.

We are a close-knit, supportive and happy team of staff who are all looking to learn from each other.

Location:

We are located between Richmond upon Thames and Putney just off Richmond Park in East Sheen. We are an 8 minute walk from Mortlake train station (zone 3) and are well served by a number of buses. There is plenty of free street parking on the surrounding roads. The school is a 10 minute walk from Richmond Park and a 5 minute walk from East Sheen high street that has an excellent selection of cafes, restaurants, high street and independent shops.

Staff Benefits:

In our experience, happy teachers make a happy school. Our staff are our single biggest asset, and the success of our students depends on them.  So we take care of, and invest in them. A few of the things we offer are:

• Professional Learning Teams – like minded colleagues meeting to discuss how to improve practice.

• Generous non-contact time in your timetable

• Teachers’ Pension contributions

• A supportive and open management team

• Cycle to work scheme

• Free school meals, tea, coffee and biscuits

We really value our staff and will do whatever we can to meaningfully demonstrate that.

Here is what the ISI had to say:

Pupils are extremely well educated in accordance with the school’s aims.

The pupils’ excellent progress is supported by a wide-ranging curriculum, a very broad range of activities and an exceptionally wide programme of visits and residential trips.

Throughout the school, high quality care is provided, and relationships and behaviour are excellent.

The clear sense of educational direction is reflected in pupils’ high standards of academic achievement and excellent personal development.

Pupils are very successful in obtaining places at senior schools, some of which are highly selective.

The excellent quality of teaching throughout the school enables pupils to achieve the high standards for which the school aims.

Teaching promotes tolerance and respect for others, and is non-partisan in the discussion of political issues.

Throughout the school, pupils’ strong personal values are shown in their self-confidence, self-knowledge and self-esteem, meeting the school’s aim for them to become able to shape their own futures.

The pupils’ excellent social development enables them to be at the heart of a strong and supportive community, which nurtures an enjoyment of learning.

The pupils’ mutual warmth, friendship, respect and good humour are very evident, for example when older pupils care for younger ones by helping them with their reading or assembly preparation.

The clear educational direction in the school is reflected in the high standards of academic education and the pupils’ excellent personal development.

Applications will be considered as they are submitted. The School reserves the right to commence or complete the recruitment process at any time prior to the closing date, Monday 16th May 2022.

About Tower House School

We're Small

It’s key to our philosophy. For us, small defines all of the values that are sometimes lost in larger establishments. Small gives us the time for individuals and a personal touch. We foster an independent spirit without losing the essentials of cooperation and partnership. Small is simply a kinder and more forward thinking approach. Small is what we are, but it does not limit us.

It's our ideas and achievements that are big.

Tower House is home to just 180 boys. Like a family, we understand that every child is different. Some will be faster out of the blocks than others. But we don’t give up on any child. We commit to every boy. We do this because we have no desire to turn education into a process.

We want to produce individuals. If we are doing that, we've done our job. Want to help us achieve our goals?
