Job overview

Vision for Education are hiring for an experienced and confident Pastoral and Support Staff Lead to work at an alternative provision in Newcastle for secondary aged students. The provision caters for young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties who can regularly display challenging and sometimes confrontational behaviours. Due to the nature of the provision you must possess very strong behaviour management techniques and have an adaptable and confident teaching/support style.

The successful Pastoral and Support Staff Lead will be responsible for the delivery of the school behaviour management strategy and assisting with the delivery of successful transition programs. You will also be responsible for the delegation of and the ongoing professional development of a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants.


To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Be available 5 days a week 
  • Be comfortable with behaviour de-escalation techniques
  • Have a strong motivation to improve the lives of disadvantaged and disaffected young learners
  • Be confident in leading a group of Learning Support Assistants, including delivering ongoing performance evaluation meetings
