As a Pastoral Support Assistant at Sandwell Learning Centre you’ll help us meet our young peoples’ emotional needs. Our young people have challenging complex emotional and behavioral needs and need more support than most. You’ll make sure they get it by applying high standards of care. It means working with families and developing programmes for each individual young person. With careful assessment and planning, you’ll create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.

You already have experience working with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting. So you understand their developmental needs and what pastoral care entails. A good listener who can motivate and work in a team, you inspire young people to achieve. Flexibility and good organizational skills mean you’ll be an asset to the Witherslack Group.

Our learning centre in Oxford is part of an Integrated Therapeutic Provision, providing the highest standards of education, care and therapeutic support for children and young people, with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours. The learning centre caters for up to 15 young people between the ages of 9 and 18 years. It offers a highly personalised and structured curriculum for all pupils, allowing them person to equip themselves with the skills and practical experience they need for life beyond school and into their chosen career. Our integrated Therapeutic Provisions offer a complete package of residential care and on-site learning. There are strong links between the learning centre and children’s home to ensure that the young people are closely supported throughout their school day and home life and to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.
