We are looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, adaptable individual to join our successful Pastoral Leader Team.

As a member of the team, you will be working closely to support students whilst liaising with staff and parents. The Pastoral Leader role is an integral part of the school's Student Welfare Team, dealing with a range of matters across the school such as friendships, student-staff relationships and student behaviour management.

Previous experience of working with children (11-16) preferably in an educational setting is desirable, and experience of dealing with external agencies would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, strong interpersonal skills combined with strong literacy, numeracy and ICT skills (Microsoft Office & SIMS). They will also have a calm and tactful approach, ability to work to tight deadlines, understand the importance of confidentiality and be emotionally resilient.

For a suitably qualified candidate this role may also involve elements of safeguarding. Effective safeguarding is the golden thread that runs through all aspects of work with children and staff at Helena Romanes School. The safeguarding aspect of this role will focus on managing welfare and safeguarding concerns to enable effective support and intervention of our most vulnerable students.

At Helena Romanes School we value the personal attributes of hard work, positivity and kindness, and we are looking for someone who can model these values.

We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating diversity, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Helena Romanes School joined the highly successful Saffron Academy Trust in September 2020. Consequently, there are a wide range of opportunities in terms of CPD, school-to-school collaboration and career development for members of our team.

The school is a popular and successful 4-18 comprehensive, all-through school, situated in the beautiful North Essex countryside. It has good communications to London and the South East, and it is approximately 7 miles from Stansted Airport.

Please apply by application form, which can be found on our school website www.helena-romanes.essex.sch.uk  to Sue Este, HR Manager seste@hrs.education

The successful candidate will be subject to full employment checks including references, an enhanced DBS Disclosure Certificate and medical clearance.

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment

The school reserves the right to interview candidates before the published closing date.

We are a mixed 4 – 18 Academy with over 1200 pupils on roll. The school is situated in beautiful countryside, occupying approximately 35 acres just to the north of Great Dunmow.

The school was established in 1958 and is named in honour of the first Chair of Governors.

At Helena Romanes, we are ambitious for our pupils and we offer them a rich and varied curriculum. Our pupils develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that enables them to move successfully into higher education, apprenticeships, training or employment.

While academic achievement is of crucial importance, we also ensure that we focus effectively on developing our pupils’ personal, social and creative skills. Our aim is that pupils leave Helena Romanes as successful, confident and considerate young adults.

We are very proud of our pupils. They are superb ambassadors for our school when they represent us locally, nationally and internationally, participating in our many and varied extra-curricular activities.

At Helena Romanes, we have a large team of well-qualified, dedicated staff who focus on supporting pupils’ progress and well-being. We work closely with parents, carers and the wider community to ensure we provide a well-coordinated approach to our pupils’ learning and development.
