Job overview

Vision for Education are seeking to appointment a Pastoral Mentor to work within an alternative provision in the Sunderland area. The school caters for young people who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), so the successful candidate must be enthusiastic, motivated and be able to provide an excellent level of support to students.

This is a full-time role, which is due to commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work Monday-Friday, 8.30-4pm.

To be considered for the position of Pastoral Mentor you must:

  • Have previous experience of working with disengaged and hard to reach students
  • Be able to effectively support staff, students and parents, in sometimes sensitive situations
  • Be able to support the welfare of students, ensuring they reach their full potential
  • Have excellent behaviour management
  • Be able to build and maintain relationships with young people who have complex needs
  • Be comfortable with supporting students who display challenging and sometimes confrontational behaviour
  • Hold an in-date Team Teach certificate (Training can be provided)
