City of London Academy, Highgate Hill, opened as a mixed, all-ability, non-denominational academy in September 2017, and is housed in a lovely building with excellent facilities for students, staff and the community. We are seeking a Pastoral Support Manager (internal exclusion room) to join us in September 2021. You will manage students who have been issued an internal exclusion and have therefore been placed in the “Reflection Room” providing relevant work and assistance when needed. You will have experience of working with children of secondary age supporting their learning needs and helping them to reflect on their behaviour and actions. You will have experience of working with children who have significant underachievement, poor behaviour, poor attendance, failing motivation/confidence and difficulty in concentrating. You will also supervise morning “breakfast club” for all students before school. You should have excellent IT skills, to include accurate record keeping of students that receive internal exclusions providing reports where necessary. You must also be willing to undertake further training.

You will be expected to manage your own workload and prioritise work appropriately. Excellent communication skills both oral and written are an essential part of the role to be able to deal with staff, students, parents and external agencies.

Normal hours will be between 8.00am and 16.00pm. It is expected that you would be available to support certain meetings outside of these hours by agreement in advance for which time off in lieu will be accrued. There are also INSET training days and TWILIGHT evenings throughout the academic year which you are expected to attend.
