Job overview

Part-time | Three afternoons a week

We are looking to appoint an organised, motivated and enthusiastic part time PE assistant and hockey coach to help support the PE Department, in particular to lead the delivery of our extra-curricular Prep and Senior school clubs, especially the hockey program throughout the Autumn and Spring terms.

Our focus for the program is to ensure the pupils get high quality exposure to coaching. This is to include technical development, maintaining match fitness, and tactical awareness. A competitive desire to be the best is of course important to the success of the School however student development and enjoyment are also of paramount importance here at Pipers Corner.

As a coach we would expect you to have a detailed knowledge of the game, a good standard of playing experience and the confidence to lead hockey coaching sessions across years 7-13. Alongside the coaching, attendance and support at fixtures will be required throughout the season. An ability to umpire would be a distinct advantage.

The role is very varied, including both routine administrative tasks, such as producing team lists, and the opportunity to work directly with school students. It requires flexibility, good humour and a commitment to work hard as part of a strong team. Most of all, you will need to be able to demonstrate initiative and be a self starter.

The successful candidate would work with the Director of Sport and other departmental members. The Director of Sport and her colleagues will provide full support to the successful candidate.

An application form can be obtained from the HR Department, email hr@piperscorner.co.uk, or downloaded from our website www.piperscorner.co.uk

Completed application forms and a covering letter should be addressed to the Headmistress and returned to HR via the email address above.

Closing date: Wednesday 4 January 2023.

Interview date: Tbc.

Pipers Corner School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Pipers Corner is an independent day school for girls aged 4–18. From Pre-Prep through to Sixth Form there is a focus on academic excellence as girls are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. Academically successful, our girls progress to further study at Oxbridge and other top universities or specialist dance, drama and music colleges.

Set in 36 acres of Chiltern countryside, the school is less than one hour from central London (40 minute rail links to Marylebone Station in London) and 45 minutes from Heathrow airport, 4 miles north of High Wycombe and 2 miles from Great Missenden.

The Pipers Corner environment allows girls to thrive. Whatever their strengths, the girls are challenged and supported as they pursue their own unique learning journeys. This approach enables them to fulfil their academic and personal potential and emerge as mature, confident and independent young women.
