This Special Education Department in Newham are seeking an experienced and passionate PE Teacher to lead on the school's physical education and healthy living, preparing and delivering an outstanding and engaging PE curriculum to pupils in Key Stage 2 and 3.

You will also prepare the curriculum for Key Stage 4 pupils who opt to take an appropriate PE qualification.

You will ensure that sports and exercise are provided context and linked to the real world.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are: 

  • Be a Qualified PE Teacher (holding QTS, QTLS or equivalent) ideally with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification teaching experience.
  • Substantial experience of supporting neurodiverse children, or with Autism (ASC) and/or Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour. 
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour, offering a calm response and always promoting de-escalation and emotional regulation. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Demonstrable experience as an outstanding teacher, role modelling best practice.
  • Resilient, committed, and a hard worker - able to keep going in the face of adversity and never giving up.
