The post could suit a recent graduate from university or drama school or someone with professional experience with a desire to extend their technical skills, or an experienced designer.
The position is for a multi-skilled theatre technician who can provide set and costume design and construction support to the drama department and technical support to those running events and users of the school’s Hampden Hall.
The appointed person will work with the drama and events departments, supporting the work of the Theatre, Calendar and Events Manager and Head of Drama. The post also supports the basic lighting and sound requirements at events in the Hampden Hall so a wide range of theatrical experience would be beneficial.
Bringing exceptional set/costume design and construction skills into the drama department, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high standards and an ability to work as part of a successful team.
This position will span 37.5 hours per week, operating on a flexi-time basis (with time off in lieu of overtime during busy periods such as production weeks) during term time, plus 3 weeks during school holidays.

Welcome to Emanuel. We are a fully co-ed school of over 1000 pupils, aged 10-18, with over 200 teaching and support staff colleagues.
We are an ambitious community. This summer, 87% of grades at GCSE were awarded 9-7, which is a lift of 37% across recent years. Our A Level A*-A percentage is 53%. This is 20% higher than in 2018 and the school is now recognised as one of the best for academic outcomes in the country. The recent ISI Inspection report noted that: “Pupils make excellent progress across the range of subjects and significant value is added to their academic outcomes.”
We are committed to developing all our major sports and value pupil participation as well as team and individual achievement. The school’s critical build plan will see a significant investment in our on and off-site sports facilities across the next 3-4 years. The same site plan will support the outstanding creative and performing arts teaching at the school, as the school’s plans for a large specialist science teaching block will also allow us to improve our facilities for music and drama, both areas of traditional strength. We were delighted that these areas were recognised in last year’s Independent School of the Year Awards when we won the award for our performing arts.
Beyond the classroom, we have a thriving partnerships programme, helping to develop our pupils at all ages as they participate in this work, and benefiting the local community, with over 1000 primary school children coming to use our site and work with our pupils each month.
