Outstanding Teacher of Physical Education

Kings’ School is seeking an outstanding PE teacher with a passion for swimming to join an outstanding department which is rapidly gaining a reputation for excellence across the UAE. 

The department is superbly resourced, with extensive facilities to support a wide range of sports and extracurricular activities. Sport is a major part of students' lives at Kings’ and the successful candidate will be expected to devote time both before and after school, as well as weekends, to running clubs and competitive teams.

Key Responsibilities 

• Deliver high quality innovative and exciting lessons in the spirit of the vision for learning set out by the school

• Plan effectively for high quality teaching, learning and assessment through the creative design and effective implementation of Assessments and Schemes of Work 

• Engage in a collaborative approach to planning 

• Engage in or deliver appropriate Continual Professional Development opportunities to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and assessment

• Maintain a high awareness of current pedagogical and subject specific developments and adopt as appropriate. 

• Assist in, and engage with, the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of teaching, learning and assessment within your Subject Are

• Supports school programmes of health, fitness and hygiene education

• Create a high quality learning environment in the Subject Area through learning focussed and resources

• Advises class teachers with regard to the elements of the PE curriculum that they teach (primary)

• Maintain a high awareness of how students can secure excellent outcomes in public examinations within your Subject Area 

• Ensure Assessments and Schemes of Work in all Key Stages are designed to give students a high awareness of how to be successful and equip them with the skills to do so

• Give students effective formative feedback in line with the School’s assessment policy that is responded to effectively to enable them to be successful.

• Use School and departmental systems to track student attainment, progress, effort, conduct and organisation 

• Use internal and external attainment, progress and attitudinal data effectively to support the progress of all students.

• Design and implement high impact interventions both in and outside of lessons that remedy under performance

• Liaise with Form Tutors, Year Leaders, Senior Leaders and any other relevant people to communicate key information about student attainment, progress and behaviour

• Communicate key information about students to parents in a timely manner through appropriate forms of communication

Requirements:

  • A high quality degree with Physical Education, Outdoor Education or Sports Science  as the sole or significant focus
  • ASA Level 2 Swimming Qualification is desired, however not required
  • An outstanding teacher, with a minimum of 2 years experience, though new teachers who are aspiring to be outstanding will be considered
  • Proven track record of developing school Swim Squads and / or or programme
  • Experience of teaching GCSE and A-Level - though experience of delivering BTEC will be looked on favourably 
  • Experience in examination PE is desired, however not required. 
  • Experience in primary/ secondary PE is desired, however not required. 
  • Able to teach consistently inspirational lessons and a track record/ability to deliver results
  • A commitment to the wellbeing and pastoral care of all students within their care
  • Able and willing to make a broader contribution to school life
  • Innovative, creative, enthusiastic and able to deliver results
  • Experience of working overseas or with international students would be an advantage
