Job overview

"Our mission is to provide an inclusive, international education in a safe, happy, supportive and stimulating environment where all the needs of the individual learner are met. Students are inspired to be the best they can be, enabling them to become responsible global citizens."

Physics/Science Teacher

Physics is a popular and well-established subject at St. Andrews and we are looking for an experienced and inspiring teacher to join the Science team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13.

All students study Science throughout Key Stage 3, with schemes of work based on the English National Curriculum but adapted to reflect both the international nature of our students and to better prepare them to study single Sciences at both IGCSE and IB. At Key Stage 4, all students must study at least one Science, with many studying two or more, chosen from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In Key Stage 5, all students must study at least one Science as part of the IB Diploma Programme, with many students studying two chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Design Technology, Environmental Systems and Societies and Physics.

Physics is a popular subject at both IGCSE and at IB, and previous experience teaching these courses would be a significant advantage. We would also particularly welcome applications from candidates with a commitment to, and experience of, more holistic, STEAM approaches who can contribute to the development of our new integrated Technology course in Key Stage 3 - Students have two lessons of Technology each week and cover topics and skills from Design Technology, ICT and Computing Science.

At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB.

All Science classrooms have data projectors, interactive whiteboards and access to the internet, and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate, with laptop carts, iPads and ICT labs bookable when required. As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.

St Andrews is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and expects all staff to share the same commitment (see our Child Protection Code of Conduct). No teacher will be appointed without at least two references, including one from the most recent employer, a ten year criminal record check and relevant regional Prohibition Order/DBS checks.

If you would like to apply for a position at our school please complete the application process through Jobtrain, accessible via the Nord Anglia Education website: http://www.nordangliaeducation.com/careers/.

St Andrews International School Bangkok was founded in 1997 on an attractive, conveniently located site which today is home to our Primary School. Today we are a school of more than 1,900 students representing some 55 nationalities ranging from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 13. In August 2017 we opened an additional campus at a nearby prime city centre location which delivers state of the art purpose-built learning facilities to our High School.

Our school provides a high quality, professional, well-resourced learning environment where each child’s talents and abilities are recognised and nurtured, and their needs supported. We are an inclusive school that welcomes students of all abilities. To ensure that all our children have an equality of opportunity, we have a professional Learning Support Department. This team works with class teachers to identify and support children in their learning across the school, whether they need extra help with their studies or have been identified as gifted and talented.
