Purpose

To support the assessment & delivery of the College’s work-based learning programmes & short courses for employed learners. Leading on the assessment & delivery for learners either in College or in the workplace using a variety of assessment methods including e-learning (Onefile)

Maintain all quality assurance to meet college’s & awarding bodies quality assurance procedures

Must have own transport

Hours: 36 per week


Duties

1. Assessment & monitoring of learners according to College and national standards, policies and procedures.

2. Reviewing & tracking of all learners on programme, identifying all assessment methods required to meet specifications. Set timely achievement targets for all learners & report on achievement of qualifications

3. Identify at risk learners in line with the colleges retention strategy, document & report

4. To ensure that initial assessments & diagnostic processes are completed according to the requirements of the learning programme & college procedures

5. To keep appropriate records & documentation as required by the College, Awarding body & Funding Agency, including records of attendance, ILP, planning, reviews & feedback assessment records etc.

6. To support the assessment Functional Skills where required as part of the learning programme and be responsible for tracking all qualifications within the learners apprenticeship framework

7. To undertake internal verification processes if qualified or working toward as required by the vocational learning programme.

8. To ensure that all programmes are delivered to a high standard using quality control processes that are completed & maintained, including those relating to internal verification, external verification, self-assessment etc.

9. To work with the team to ensure that key targets are met, particularly those relating to enrolments, funding contracts, contribution, achievement and success meet planned end dates timely etc. Ensure Caseload levels are maintained and monitored

10. To assist with the promotion & marketing of all learning programmes, working with other team members to share information & new leads for potential learners.

11. Ensuring effective liaison with employers to ensure they are fully informed, all training opportunities identified, & learners are appropriately supported

12. To work with other team members & employers to ensure that appropriate health & safety procedures are in place. Complete & review all health & safety documentation & liaise with the Placement Co-ordinator 

13. Ensure continuous development & improvement of professional knowledge including maintaining industry development, attend updates with vocational awarding bodies, learning technologies & e-portfolio’s

14. Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.

Appropriate minimum L3 Qualification for the vocational qualification assessing 

Assessor qualification (D32/33/A1)

Maths/English Level 2

Desirable Criteria

Internal Verification Qualification (D34/V1)

Hopwood Hall College is a further education college located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The college was first established in 1992, and since its founding has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation, including the installation of a brand-new technology centre in 2012 which provides facilities for studying motor vehicle maintenance, engineering and brickwork. Although the college had previously contained its own sixth form centre, since 2010 Hopwood Hall has concentrated solely on vocational qualifications for school leavers, along with its extensive adult-education programmes. The college occupies two main sites, located close by to each other in Greater Manchester, each providing a range of high-quality teaching facilities.

Values and Vision

Hopwood Hall College offers a huge range of subjects from entry-level courses up to foundation degrees, with part-time provision available for adult students looking to pursue their qualifications while working. In terms of younger students, Hopwood Hall begins accepting students at age 14, providing entry-level vocational qualifications and, potentially, apprenticeships for Key Stage 4 pupils looking to study outside of school. We have a purpose-built Salon, Restaurant and Technology Centre as well as extensive Sports and Animal Care facilities. Outside of study, the college also works hard to foster a sense of community among its students, playing host to a range of recreational common areas for students to relax and socialise.

They have established good links with community groups to engage with learners who have not participated in education and training for some time. These learners benefit from the development of their essential English and mathematical skills, including English for speakers of other languages; they are progressing to further study and/or employment.”
