We are looking for an individual with a clear commitment to supporting and developing the vision for this Academy. You will be committed to the highest achievement for all and be a resourceful and enthusiastic supporter of education. 

In selecting a Premises Assistant to join our team, we are looking for a dedicated and hard-working individual; someone who understands that keeping our premises and brand new facilities maintained to the highest standards is key to our success.

As a member of the team you will be: 

  • Capable of establishing good working relationships with the Principal, office and teaching staff, pupils, parents, cleaners, and all other stakeholders; 
  • Flexible in your approach to planning the working day;
  • Able to work shifts between 6.30am and 6.30pm;
  • Well organised, conscientious and reliable;
  • Practical, with basic DIY skills;
  • Reasonably fit, because the work involves lifting and carrying. 

What we are looking for:

  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and requirements
  • Basic training (or sound experience) in either plumbing, general/ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance or heating systems
  • A sound understanding of cleaning methods and standards
  • Good communication skills and a flexible approach

Experience of working in a school or educational establishment is desirable but not essential.

About Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form

Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form is opening in a brand new and easily accessible state of the art campus in South Norwood in September 2018. Providing an outstanding vocational education, the sixth form will prepare students for skills based work or transition to university for students in Croydon and surrounding boroughs. Integral to this new academy will be an alternative provision centre, Harris Aspire, made up of both key stage 3 and key stage 4 pupils. Aspire will take a welfare driven, pastoral approach to supporting students in reframing attitudes to education, without sacrificing educational progress and attainment. Utilising a rich curriculum which blends both academic and vocational subjects, teachers and a range of therapeutic professionals will work as one team to break down barriers to education whilst supporting the intellectual, emotional and social development of the pupils in our care.

Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form is opening in September 2018 and will provide an outstanding vocational education and preparation for skills based work or transition to university for students in Croydon and those from surrounding boroughs. This new academy with up to date, state of the art facilities, will recruit students from across Croydon and the wider London area focusing on the hard skills that will be needed in an area undergoing considerable reconstruction and rejuvenation. By focusing from the outset on the goal of employability within a number of sectors, we have created a curriculum that challenges and inspires, creating well rounded students who have the drive and ambition to succeed in their chosen area of work with additional skill sets that put them above others competing for jobs in their chosen vocation.
