The Prevent Team in Ealing Council supports the borough’s response in implementing the Prevent objectives set within the Governments Counter Terrorism Strategy. The aim of Prevent is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism which requires responding to all forms of extremism. The Prevent Team specialises in supporting initiatives that safeguard people and prevent radicalisation and extremism on the borough. The work is demanding but very interesting and varied. This exciting role of the Prevent Education Officer will work with schools and other education providers across all key stages to deliver Prevent activity to increase young people’s resilience so they are not drawn into terrorism.  We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our Prevent Team to lead and build on our local Prevent programme of work across the education sector.

This is a high profile role and we will require you to:

• have an understanding of working within education settings,

• have confidence and resilience,

• have excellent communications skills,

• be politically astute,

• influence and engage a wide range of partners and stakeholders,

• have or willing to undertake a CTC/SC Security clearance.

We offer excellent training for these roles and there will be every opportunity for you to develop and establish your career in the field of Prevent and within the council. You will also be able to network with a range of our local partners and government officials including the Home Office, Department for Education and other Government Departments.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role.  This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

Secondments from the education sector are possible. For an informal discussion about the role please contact Nazia Matin – Strategic Prevent Manager on 020 8825 8895. The position is for a fixed period until March 2019, with possibility of extension. External applicants will be offered a fixed-term contract and existing Ealing council employees will be offered the opportunity of a secondment. LBE employees must ensure a secondment release form is signed by their line manager before applying and emailed to HRSSC-RecruitmentTeam@ealing.gov.uk by the application closing date.

Ealing council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults.  The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This role is subject to Ealing's enhanced vetting process.
