Values and vision

Independent Jewish Day School (IJDS) focuses on the talents and strengths of each pupil. It believes in nurturing children in order to empower them and develop their interest in learning.

As well as focusing on a well-rounded education, IJDS makes use of a curriculum that is rooted in the Jewish faith. The school uses the Jewish Studies programme, which is taught in Ivrit, a language introduced at nursery level, while the Kodesh curriculum develops children’s skills in Ivrit. Shlichim and Banot Sherut national service volunteers visit from Israel to help strengthen pupils' connection with and understanding of Israel and its people.

Ofsted report

“A remarkable feature of the school is the way in which the curriculum seamlessly integrates Jewish studies with the secular curriculum. Exceptional leadership ensures that it combines a caring and nurturing environment for pupils with high expectations of their academic achievement. Warm relationships between adults and pupils pervade the school. Consequently, pupils of all abilities thrive in this atmosphere and achieve exceptionally well.”
