About The British School Manila

The British School Manila (BSM) is a co-educational, private, not-for-profit British international school.

Founded in 1976, the school has grown from 2 classrooms and 32 students in its first year to the present day where BSM welcomes 950+ students aged 3-18, representing 50+ nationalities.

BSM’s Guiding Statements underpin all that we do. Our purpose is to provide an outstanding holistic British international education, empowering students to flourish as global citizens with the skills, understanding and values, to make a positive contribution to our world.

Our School

Our school is a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and a member of the East Asian Regional Council of Schools.

Our teaching staff come from a range of backgrounds with experience of the British and other highly regarded curricula. We offer classes from Nursery to Year 13 with three classes per year group.

The majority of BSM graduates attend College in the U.S. and  U.K., but our college placement data shows our students attend colleges all over the world.

The school year is divided into 3 terms: Term 1 from August to December, Term 2 from January to March, and Term 3 from April to June.

Our Curriculum

BSM teaches an adapted form of the National Curriculum of England in EYFS and Years 1-9. This is followed in Years 10 & 11 with a comprehensive range of Edexcel and Cambridge (I)GCSE courses. In Year 12 and 13 students experience the internationally renowned and recognised IB Diploma programme, which helps students develop their breadth and depth of knowledge ready for further education.

We are also proud of our wider curriculum. We offer more than 180 After School Activities (ASA), a rich and diverse programme that caters for all student interests and develops their sporting, creative, academic and artistic talents. Our service learning programme is designed to prompt both action and reflection and ensure our students develop the capacity for empathy and a sense of responsibility for others.  Our residential trips provide our students with opportunities to step out of their comfort zone, to appreciate cultural differences and to celebrate diversity.
