Position Requirements • must be able to fulfil the requirements of the Diocesan Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy.


• a relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education.


• ability to teach in the primary curriculum area K-6.


• high level knowledge of the relevant key learning area (K-6) and a proven capacity to improve student learning.


• high quality classroom teaching skills in the area of ES1 - 3 which enable students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential.


• exemplary values and attitudes appropriate to professional practice and the intellectual, physical and social development of students.


• ability to successfully implement and evaluate curriculum initiatives in accordance with curriculum and standards framework.


• demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and commitment to ongoing professional learning.


• commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the school team.


• high level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents and other teachers.
Essential Criteria Applicant must

• applicants will need to comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead - formerly the Faith Education Accreditation (FEA) Policy 2012 and will need to work towards Accreditation at Category D – Accreditation to Teach Religion.

• be appropriately qualified as a four year trained primary teacher

• be a practising Catholic

• record current NESA and Working With Children number on application.

• evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied. (https://etraining.allergy.org.au/login/index.php)

About St Joseph’s Primary School

St Joseph's Primary School is an independent co-educational Roman Catholic school teaching pupils between kindergarten and year 6. It is located in the town of Denman in New South Wales, Australia. It is a small school with 8 teaching staff taking care of approximately 80 pupils. Originally opened as St Bernard's School in Wybong in 1915, the school moved to Denman the following year. It draws students from the regions of Denman, Sandy Hollow, Martindale, Jerrys Plain and Bureen.

The school underwent a redevelopment in 2011 under the Building the Education Revolution program, resulting in a new, modern classroom, canteen and library. It also has a covered outdoor learning area and a school hall, converted from the old church.

An assortment of extracurricular opportunities are on offer to students including violin tuition, Newcastle Herald Writing Competition and Newcastle Permanent Mathematics Competition, as well as sports activities including Cross Country.

Curriculum

The Key Learning Areas of English; mathematics; science and technology; creative arts; personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE); and human society and Its environment (HSIE) are combined with the school's teaching of the Diocesan K-12 Religion Syllabus. This curriculum centres on history and belief; celebration and prayer; Jesus and scripture; and justice and morality.
