Description Part-time temporary teaching position at St Joseph's Primary School, Dungog.
Position Requirements • a relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education.
• ability to teach in the primary curriculum area K-6.
• high level knowledge of the relevant key learning area (K-6) and a proven capacity to improve student learning.
• high quality classroom teaching skills in the area of ES1 - 3 which enable students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential.
• exemplary values and attitudes appropriate to professional practice and the intellectual, physical and social development of students.
• ability to successfully implement and evaluate curriculum initiatives in accordance with curriculum and standards framework.
• demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and commitment to ongoing professional learning.
• commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the school team.
• high level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents and other teachers.
Essential Criteria Applicant must
• be appropriately qualified as a four year trained primary teacher
• be a practising Catholic
• record current NESA and Working With Children number on application.
• evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied. (https://etraining.allergy.org.au/login/index.php) Note: To start or return to working as a teacher in a NSW school, you must be accredited by NESA.
Desirable Criteria • Experience teaching across all Primary stages would be an advantage.

About St Joseph's Primary School

St Joseph’s Primary School is a co-educational Catholic day school, located in Dungog, NSW. This small school looks after around 80 students in Kindergarten through Year 6 and has eight teaching staff.

The school was founded in 1888 by the Sisters of St Joseph and has continued to grow, with a new school building added on in 2006, providing students and staff with new classrooms and modern facilities. The school is proud of their long and rich history of providing Catholic-based education to the local community.

Facilities

The school opened five new classrooms in 2007, each with computers and interactive whiteboards. Rooms are also centrally heated and air-conditioned. The school’s library is also large and modern, with computers for student use. The school also offers outdoor shaded play and sporting areas.

The school has a focus on sustainability, with a large rainwater tank for irrigation and both a vegetable and compost garden, with students helping to grow their own produce. 

Curriculum

The school’s curriculum is based on the NSW Board of Studies Key Learning Areas. These include English, mathematics, science and technology, human society and its environment, creative arts, and personal development and health. All students also receive religious education. 

Students also enjoy participating in sports, drama, choir, and band.

The school’s motto is ‘God is Love’, and they aim to create a school centred on the teachings of the values of Christ. They celebrate the Catholic traditions and help students to achieve their full potential academically, socially, spiritually, and physically.
