Principal of Westholme School: Where Children Come First

The Governors of Westholme School, on the rural edge of Blackburn, seek an exceptional person to lead this progressive, happy and aspirational coeducational through-school. Inspirational leadership abilities, a thorough knowledge of the latest curriculum developments and outstanding interpersonal skills will be essential.

Key information:

Westholme School is a coeducational day school established in 1923. We currently have 700 students on role ranging from 3 – 18yrs.

The School will be entering an exciting period of development with the construction of a new Junior School. Westholme fosters positive attitudes where learning is fun and this is underpinned by strong a commitment to pastoral care. We believe that every pupil in our care has the right to an excellent education and our dedicated staff team ensure that every child is encouraged and given the opportunity to succeed. We aim to develop compassion, resilience, self-awareness and independence of thought.

Our curriculum offer is strong and diverse throughout, from our youngest pupils in Pre School who enjoy taking those all-important first strokes in the swimming pool to our Sixth Form students embarking on an A Level in Business and Economics or Science and everything in between. We pride ourselves on this wide ranging curriculum offer which runs alongside a varied co-curricular programme of activities including mountain biking, debating, music, drama, sport, STEM enrichment classes and much, much more.

Learning also takes place outside the classroom walls and pupils are given the opportunity to go on various trips and expeditions, both comfortingly close (Roman Chester perhaps) and exotically far (the jungles of Borneo). Westholme School is a very special place. Students emerge as confident, polite and professional young adults, ready for the next phase of their lives.
