Stratton Upper School

Part of Stratton Education Trust

Principal

Competitive salary, reflecting experience and potential

Required from January 2020

School of 1,000 students; capacity 1,650

Trustees are seeking to appoint a Principal who can lead the school through an exciting time of change and development.

Stratton Upper School is a fully comprehensive school with great students; a committed, highly-motivated staff; and trustees who are experienced and supportive.  The school is currently working closely with the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) and it is expected that Stratton will join CMAT in January 2020.

Stratton is the only Key Stage Four and Five provider in Biggleswade, a market town which has grown by over a third in the last few years.  The School is a community school serving the town and the surrounding villages.

Biggleswade is set for further large growth and a school reorganisation (from three tier to a two tier system) which will involve a second KS4 provider.  Stratton trustees have published their intention to become an 11-18 secondary school through the reorganisation and our new Principal will be expected to lead this transition and growth.

Stratton was judged as ‘Requires Improvement’ from its previous ‘Good’ in April 2018 and received a Financial Notice to Improve in November 2018.   Trustees have actively sought the support of a successful values driven trust to provide the capacity and knowledge to enable Stratton to thrive.

We would love to hear from you if you are:

• A highly successful leader

• Have the ability to analyse and think strategically

• Have a philosophy of continuous improvement

• Are committed to working within a team environment

• Have a track record of leading change which has led to measurable improvement

• Champion inclusion and work to fulfil the potential of every child

• Work with the community and value all stakeholders

• Share our vision for Biggleswade

The School operates a rigorous recruitment process to ensure candidates’ suitability to work with children, therefore an Enhanced DBS will be required.

A recruitment pack, containing a full job description, can be found on the school website.

Closing date for applications is 30th September, 2019.

We would encourage those who are interested in applying to make an informal visit to the school.
