Job overview

Are you an ambitious and inspirational school leader looking for your next challenge? Would you like the opportunity to lead a unique school community within a supportive and collaborative Multi Academy Trust linked to a successful teaching school, research school and national support school?

Due to the retirement of our current Principal, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a determined educationalist to lead this unique school into the next stage of development. Underwood West Academy is a co-educational primary school for children aged 4-11 years, currently with 440 pupils and 80 staff.

We expect our children to be resourceful, reciprocal, resilient and reflective. You will find our pupils friendly, well-behaved and very eager to learn. We have active and supportive local governors, staff and parents/carers, with the additional benefit of the support of our local, small, experienced MAT, The Aspire Educational Trust. There is effective collaboration and partnership within the Trust and local Primary Heads’ Forum and a strong commitment to continuing professional development.

To be successful you will be an outstanding leader with a ‘can do approach’, who is passionate about developing, delivering and articulating the vision, values and ethos of the academy and who will inspire and empower others to share in achieving it.

We are looking for an excellent communicator who can further strengthen existing positive relationships with parents/carers and families, the local governing body and the community and work collaboratively across the Trust.

An innovator who will develop creative approaches to continue to drive the high quality of teaching, learning and assessment, you will ensure that our children enjoy their education whilst reaching their full potential.
