The British International School, Lagos (BIS) is a reputable and highly successful co-educational private school on Victoria Island, in the heart of the vibrant city of Lagos. The school admits students across the secondary age range and has a pupil population of 400+. The purpose-built, expansive and charming school campus, situate in an attractive and secure private Estate, was inaugurated in the year 2000. Facilities are excellent and include a swimming pool and upgraded modern science laboratories. BIS enjoys an enviable academic reputation and the school community is warm and lively, hence approximately one third of the students here are boarders. BIS is accredited by COBIS and a brand-new preparatory school for younger pupils, The British International Junior School, has recently been constructed on grounds adjoining the school campus.

The Board of BIS desires to appoint a Principal to assume full responsibility for the secondary school in September 2021 and the successful candidate is required to arrive in Lagos in August 2021 for on-boarding and orientation. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced, adept and visionary school Head, motivated and keen to lead the school in the next phase of its development. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and management skills, an up-to-date approach to learning and teaching, experience in pastoral matters, all in addition to the safeguarding of all school stakeholders. The person appointed will be the school’s prime ambassador, hence, a practical knowledge of marketing and public relations is essential in the role.

An attractive salary package, paid in British Pounds, is offered with this position. In addition, the Principal will occupy a recently completed, furnished, comfortable home within the school grounds, inclusive of utilities and satellite television. The successful candidate in addition enjoys the exclusive use of a car and dedicated driver, medical cover, return flights to his/her country of origin and the services of a cook/steward.

Established in 2001, British International School, Lagos (BIS) is a co-education Independent international School located in the Nigerian city of Lagos. The school was founded to provide a British education to students aged 11-18.  From September 2021 the school will welcome primary aged pupils to its purpose built Junior School. The school resides on a 30-acre site and accepts both day and boarding pupils. Older pupils sit IGCSE/GCSE and A Level examinations with most continuing their education in the UK or North America. The curriculum at BIS is well supported by a range of modern academic and recreational facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a fully equipped library, a basketball court, and an extensive modern residential area providing boarding to a large proportion of the school’s students.
