Job overview

The Belvedere Academy is a highly successful centre of learning and a beacon of excellence in girls' education. It is one of two state-funded, non-selective academies sponsored by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST).

With over one thousand students, the Academy focuses on providing the highest quality education for girls aged 11-19. More than this, the Academy is focused on developing articulate, confident, independent and successful girls who are responsible citizens of the community and possess the full range of qualities, skills and experience needed for a successful future. Alongside a focus on academic studies, the Academy offers a broad range of enrichment opportunities, with an emphasis on Modern Foreign Languages.

The GDST Academy Trust seeks an exceptional Principal to lead the Academy forward on the next chapter of its development and build on the success of Mr Peter Kennedy. There is a strong foundation, but students, staff and parents are ambitious, so there is more to achieve.

The successful candidate will have a track record of leading high quality education provision. You will share the ethos and values of the GDST and the Academy – these will have shaped your success to date. Your emotional intelligence and exceptional people skills will set you apart. You will be equally comfortable working with the youngest girls as with the Academy Trust Board and partner organisations in formal meetings.

This is a rare opportunity to develop and shape outstanding practice with high quality colleagues within the Academy and across the GDST. Further information about this exciting opportunity can be found at www.pentir.com/belvedere. For a confidential dis cussion please call our advising consultants Maureen Nicholas (07540 222 519) or Mike Phillips (07830 313 915) at Pentir.

Closing date: Monday 18th February 2019

The Belvedere Academy and the GDST Academy Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Belvedere Academy is a non-denominational, non-fee paying secondary school specialising in all girls’ education and is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, which has 23 independent schools and 2 academies.  The academy is heavily oversubscribed.  There are 839 students on roll with 273 in the Sixth Form.

The vision of Belvedere is Be Brave.  Be Bold. Be Belvedere. The ethos of the former Belvedere School permeates the academy with high standards and expectations. A blend of old and new, tradition and modern, Belvedere is welcoming and fully inclusive.

Belvedere offers a broad curriculum and students perform extremely well.  Pupils can study traditional academic subjects as well as vocational ones at KS4 or KS5.  There is a focus on developing the whole child and there is particular emphasis on high quality pastoral care.  Opportunities for personal development are high and pupils are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity that is on offer such as the Enrichment Programme.

Belvedere offers a first-class education in a nurturing and caring environment.
