Job overview

The Eastern Multi-Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Principal to lead King Edward VII Academy on the next stage of its journey. 2018 results were the best since it became an Academy in 2014, but there is still work to be done. As a strong candidate, you will feel passionate about leading learning in a large school with a long history.

King Edward VII Academy is the largest Academy within the Eastern Multi-Academy Trust. It is an 11-18 secondary Academy with a maximum student body of 1100 for years 7-11 and 300 for its Sixth Form. Formerly a grammar school, it is housed in historic Grade 2 Listed buildings with extensive grounds which are a landmark in King’s Lynn.

We are looking for an experienced Principal or an ambitious, driven Deputy to reinvigorate this Academy to maximise its unique character and build on the improvements to academic achievements already made. Our new Principal will be committed to providing students with an excellent education, ensuring high aspirations for all. You will need to be a good communicator, with a clear vision and a desire to motivate and enthuse both staff and students.

The successful candidate will have a high profile in the community, representing the Trust and Academy with integrity and pride. You will be wholly supportive of our mission which is to “transform lives and communities,” and our values which are empower, motivate, aspire and transform.

To apply, please follow the link below to our website.

Closing date: 18 January 2019 at 3pm.

Interviews to be held 28 and 29 January 2019.

At King Edward VII Academy we believe that strength comes from togetherness; each individual plays a crucial part in our overall community and in our successes. We combine the unity of our traditional house system and its exciting enrichment programme with an uncompromising focus upon individual academic success. Our superb reputation for sports is a marker of the emphasis we place on developing well-rounded young adults. It also serves as a symbol of our wider aims – the pursuit of excellence in all things; pride in our academy; togetherness in all we do; fair play and outstanding behaviour and healthy competition. KES has a remarkable past and strives for an even more remarkable future. Our internal support structures and career progression opportunities mean that our staff are able to achieve their full career potential. Many of our former students have returned to work for us post-studies; proving the lasting impression we make as a provider of high quality education in West Norfolk.

The Eastern Multi-Academy Trust is a regionally based Trust with both Primary and Secondary Academies across the East of England.  Originally founded as the CWA Academy Trust and sponsored by the College of West Anglia, due to the growth of the Trust and its success, it was decided that the time was right for the Trust to become independent. The Eastern Multi-Academy Trust became an independent body and sponsor in its own right in May 2017.

The first Secondary phase academy, King’s Lynn Academy, opened in 2010.  2014 was a period of rapid growth with two Primary phase Academies; Nelson Academy in Downham Market and Eastgate Academy in Kings Lynn as well as our Secondary Academy, King Edward VII Academy in King’s Lynn. Southery Academy then joined us in 2016, with North Wootton Academy and Upwell Academy joining us in early 2017.

The Trust has also established a hub of schools during 2017 in the Thetford region; Diamond Academy, Norwich Road Academy, Admirals Academy, West Row Academy, Queensway Academy, Glade Academy with a planned expansion during 2018.

Our family of academies helps us fulfil our desire of establishing a vibrant education system that enthuses young people and supports economic development of the region, raising standards throughout and aiding transition through the system. Our academies promote individual learning through inspirational teaching and challenging lessons, driving up academic standards and achievement rates well above the national levels. This had been particularly recognised with strong Ofsted outcomes in the Primary phase for Nelson Academy (Good) and Eastgate Academy (Outstanding) in 2017, as well as Nelson Academy being in the top 2% of the county for progress.

Like all strong families the Eastern Multi-Academy Trust seeks to offer mutual support to one another, develop shared learning and understanding, collaborate to achieve better outcomes, recognise unique qualities and differences, be positive and aspirational, focus on the successes of individuals and develop a culture of healthy competition.
