Job overview

Nottingham Academy is an innovative and inclusive academy for children aged 3 -19 in Nottingham City, and is led by a Primary and Secondary Principal. The Greenwood Academies Trust are now looking to appoint an inspirational school leader to lead Nottingham Academy - Primary, through its next phase of development.

The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of an aspirational curriculum, blending academic achievement with the life skills and character development that pupils need to thrive in the modern world. You will work to further improve standards, ensuring consistently high quality teaching and learning for all pupils and supporting staff to create a uniquely exciting place to learn, for all members of the academy community. You will be suitably qualified, proactive, hardworking and compassionate and ensure our pupils are kept at the heart of all decisions.

The role is an exciting one for an experienced candidate. The primary academy is large, with c900 pupils, across two sites and the role includes working closely with our newly appointed Secondary Principal to maximise the rich opportunities that the all-through nature of the academy brings to curriculum development, achievement and professional development.

We’re looking for a Principal who has:

  • a track record of successful school improvement and proven leadership skills;
  • a deep understanding of effective curriculum development and high quality teaching and learning;
  • the strength of character, resilience and passion to keep driving the academy forwards in providing the best educational opportunities for all our pupils;
  • the ability to maintain and develop the partnerships between our academy, our parents, our cluster schools, the Local Authority, the wider community and our range of external partners;
  • a strong commitment to developing and promoting the wellbeing of all members of the school community;
  • an interest in working in an all-through environment and contributing to the work of a Multi Academy Trust with a focus on disadvantaged pupils.

In return, we are proud to offer you:

  • An effective academy that is happy, supportive and welcoming with strong links to its community.
  • A strong support and challenge process of school improvement and professional learning.
  • Opportunities to work across the Trust.
